VELLUM — Issue 07 Published by Brock Wyman A copy of Vellum, the short-lived New York publication that sat between fashion editorial and the fine-art nude. It ran extended photographic portfolios at scale with almost no advertising and very little text, closer in feel to a photo annual than a newsstand title. Each photographer here is given a run of six pages, uninterrupted. Contributors to this issue: Aneta Bartos · Jordan Doner · Ryan Michael Kelly · Clayton Cubitt · Randal Medson · Can Evgin · Doug Bizzaro & Elizabeth Moss · Cleo Sullivan · Judson Baker · Dimitri Two contributors have since become considerably better known. Clayton Cubitt is known for bringing a sleek, tightly controlled style to art, portrait, erotic and fashion work, and has been described as one of a new generation refusing to separate fashion, art and pornography.  Aneta Bartos, born in Poland and a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York,  went on to show Family Portrait at Postmasters Gallery, and her work was included in the Barbican’s exhibition Masculinities: Liberation Through Photography.  Early published work by either photographer is uncommon. Independently published titles of this kind had modest print runs and negligible newsstand distribution, and few were kept.
