L'Expertise judiciaire en Écritures. The first edition of this illustrated work on forensic graphology and its uses in the legal sphere, from the libraries of a major Egyptian lawyer and the Royal School of Law in Cairo. Addressed to legal practitioners and archivists, the work examines methods of qualitative and quantitative graphometry used to interpret contemporary documents. The "state of the art" section - a "model of clarity" (Boüard, p.452) - provides a critique and assessment of previous methods. The following chapters discuss the figure of the expert graphologist, various instruments for graphological research, such as facsimiles and photography, the analysis of orthography, paper, and ink, types of writing, letter forms, the quality of pen strokes using quills, crayons, and others, and techniques for detecting forgeries and doctored inscriptions, with a special section on last wills and testaments. Provenance: An Arabic stamp on the half-title states that this copy was a gift from Prof. Mohammed 'Abdallah Mohammed "al-Mohami", an important Egyptian jurist of Islamic law, writer, and poet. In 1930, he attended the Royal School of Law in Cairo, to which this book was donated.
