Show Boat. Rehearsal script for a revival of the show that marked a departure from musical comedy to musical play. Show Boat was revised many times, and this present script presents the text from the early 1960s, based on the 1946 Broadway production, with Oscar Hammerstein II's subsequent revisions. The script comprises title page, cast list, a synopsis of scenes, together with the script of Act 1 (57 pages), "Act II" divisional title, and script of Act 2 (38 pages). There are a few annotations throughout, including a revision not apparently printed in the revised libretto: in Act 1, scene 1 Ravenal asks Magnolia "Oh -- are you a player?" which elicits the response, "You mean like on pianner? Yes, I play a little. That was me playing just now". The present script deletes the final section ("That was me...") and adds a line for Ravenal, "Was that you playing just now?" producing the response "Yes, that was me".
