The Sponge Room and Squat Betty. First edition, inscribed by the two authors on the title page, "To Clive Hirschhorn, Keith Waterhouse & Willis Hall". Hirschhorn (b. 1940) was the film and theatre critic for the Sunday Express for over three decades. His 1991 ownership inscription is on the front wrapper verso.The two plays were first performed in repertoire at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 1962, with the same actors (George Cole, Jill Bennett, and Robert Stephens) appearing in each.
