Fresh example of this beautiful work on Leon Bakst. The numerous plates represent not only Bakst most celebrated costumes, but also drawings and theatre settings. The text was compiled by Carl Einstein (1885-1940), author of the important Expressionist novel Bebuquin (1912). Limited edition, one of 250 German copies, this number 100 large 4to (33.5 x 26.4 cm); 41 pp. incl half-title and title, 19 pochoir plates with captioned tissue guards, first tissue guard torn, 29 tipped-in colour plates; vellum-backed gilt decorated purple boards, upper board sunned and lower board stained, corners bumped, otherwise a very good copy.
