John Kinzie “CHICAGO’S PIONEER" A Sketch 1910 HB 31 Pages

by Eleanor Lytle Kinzie Gordon

$75 · At auction with eBay

Bidding on what I believe to be a FIRST EDITION?? of JOHN KINZIE “CHICAGO’S PIONEER: A SKETCH” by Eleanor Lyle Kinzie Gordon. 31 pages cloth on board - 3 black and white photos with original tissue guards. Title page reads “THE FATHER OF CHICAGO: A SKETCH”. Some slight soiling to cover and ridge inside front cover has split. Inside all looks good. Good to very good. One photo shows the correction by someone on page 30 line 4 from New Hampshire to “Mass.” Research will show you the importance of this man in the early history of Michigan & Illinois as a trader with main post in Chicago, his significance at Ft Dearborn and the Indian Massacre of 1812, and as one who owned most of the real estate North of the Chicago River and more. Became very influential in the early development of Chicago. The correction on page 30 and the title of “PIONEER” on the cover makes be believe that this may be the FIRST EDITION.
