The Burn. First UK edition in English, inscribed by the author to the translator, Michael Glenny, in Russian, "thank you so much, Michael, for this whole Summer Flight's Dream, Yours, 27/Sep/84, V. Aksyonov". Glenny's ownership stamp is on the first few pages in blind. First published in Russian in 1980, this translation brought Aksyonov's work to a wider audience, after which he moved to the west. The novel follows a group of Soviet intellectuals in the years following Stalin's death. The Times called Glenny, "the most outstanding Russian translator of his generation".
