Guest of the Evening: Christabel Pankhurst, L.L. B. A seating plan for a dinner given by the New Vagabond Club, scarce. The Club was founded in the late 1890s as a dining club for literary and artistic men and women. By 1910, the club had acquired a political slant: in addition to Pankhurst, guests included the Liberal politician Jane Cobden (under the name Mrs Unwin Fisher) and the suffragette Beatrice Harraden. We have traced just one copy institutionally, at the London Museum.Provenance: from the collection of suffrage historian Elizabeth Crawford.
