This work is the sequel to Parker's "widely praised" (ADB) Australian Legendary Tales and presents a further 24 myths and legends.Katie Langloh Parker (1856-1940) lived in South Australia and went to school with a Ualarai girl who had saved her from drowning when she was a child. In 1879, she moved to Bangate Station on Ualarai lands with her husband and "studied her surroundings, taking a particular interest in the Aborigines. She respected their culture and traditions, so gaining their trust, and began to collect their myths and legends. Although she had learned some of their languages, she checked and rechecked the tales with interpreters, and was scrupulous in recording them as they were told to her" (ADB).
