La Solidarité. Association pour la défense des droits de la femme. First edition of this report on a meeting of the Swiss women's rights organization. Founded by the reformer Marie Goegg-Pouchoulin, La Solidarité was the successor to the Association international des femmes (AIF), the first international women's rights organization.A pioneer of women's rights and a significant figure in Swiss feminism - and continental feminism more broadly - Goegg-Pouchoulin (1826-1899) founded the AIF in 1868 in response to the lack of opportunities for women's participation within the International League of Freedom. Her main concerns were women's suffrage, their access to education and the public sphere, and the abolition of regulated prostitution. The AIF's association with the short-lived Paris Commune meant it was discredited and dissolved in 1871, leading Goegg-Pouchoulin to found La Solidarité in 1872. The organization's successes include achieving women's admittance to the University of Geneva and campaigns to reform the civil code. The minutes of the meeting recorded here pertain to the latter campaign, along with a discussion on women's responses to war.
