Rare 1990s Beat Poetry Zine: Tungsten (Hozomeen Press) Sonic Youth Zine Flip Bk

by M Hannen

$80 · Offered by eBay

A rare, mid-1990s counter-culture poetry chapbook titled "Tungsten" by M. Hannan with illustrations/imagery by Matthew McLaughlin. Published by the legendary underground independent Hozomeen Press (Mystic/New London, CT). This book is constructed in a rare "tête-bêche" (head-to-tail) binding format. The first half is cleanly typed, featuring a reprint of Jack Kerouac's poem "The Subterraneans." Halfway through, the book flips completely upside down to reveal a raw, dark, handwritten side conceptually attributed to "Ellis Death," quoting Sonic Youth's iconic 1986 album EVOL ("I am Ellis, a vacuum child. LR"). A beautifully preserved artifact of 90s punk, noise rock, and outlaw poetry ephemera.
