"Fine and Mellow" - original sheet music. From the collection of Rolling Stones drummer and jazz aficionado Charlie Watts: in stunning condition, the rare first printing of the sheet music for one of Lady Day's most famous torch songs, penned by her and originally recorded for Commodore on 20 April 1939. There are at least a dozen recordings in the catalogue and one particularly haunting televised version from 1957 when her interaction with a clearly ailing Prez is mesmerizing.This first printing is decidedly elusive, OCLC cites copies at only half a dozen institutional locations in the US and at the British Library.
