Original 1901 History of Los Angeles City by Charles Dwight Willard. Early historical work covering Los Angeles and Southern California during the Spanish, Mexican and early American periods. Copyrighted December 1901 by Charles Dwight Willard. Especially desirable example with a full blue-ink Charles Dwight Willard signature on the front endpaper. An older bookseller/collector notation above the signature identifies the copy as “Signed 1st Ed.” The book is dedicated to Florence Willard by her father. Illustrated throughout with early photographs and views of Southern California, including historic missions and Los Angeles-area subjects. Original red cloth binding. The original spine title label is heavily deteriorated with substantial portions missing, as clearly shown. Covers show rubbing, fading and general age wear. Interior has expected toning and occasional spotting/marks. Previous pencil notations are present. Please review all photographs for exact condition.
