Poems. First edition, presentation copy, inscribed by the author to her sister two months after publication, "Cherill Kermode with much love from J. K., Oct. 1907", facing an original autograph poem in the author's hand titled "inasmuch". The poem remained unpublished until it was included in her third and final collection, Manx Melodies in 1922.The manuscript version of "inasmuch" contains a couple of minor textual differences compared to the published poem.This is the first collection by Manx poet Josephine Kermode and the first appearance of her nom de plume. Kermode is an important figure in the Manx literary revival and uses traditional themes and dialect in her work. Cushag is the Manx name for ragwort, the flower of the Isle of Man.
