The Building of Jerusalem. A nice example of early 20th-century amateur illumination, taking as its subject the nation's favourite hymn, "Jerusalem". A gift inscription in a contemporary hand is penned on the front pastedown, from one Margaret. Illumination was one of the many handicrafts practised by women at this time.
