We have traced only two copies in auction records, both before 1950.Taylor (1758-1835) was the main exponent of Neoplatonism in England between the late 18th and 19th centuries. He was the first translator of Plotinus. This is his third compilation of chapters, and the most substantial, following An Essay on the Beautiful in 1792 and Five Books of Plotinus in 1794, the latter featuring essays on happiness, evil, providence, nature, and the soul. More ambitious than the previous, this publication covers all the foundational principles of Neoplatonism.A prolific translator, Taylor is best known for his versions of Aristotle, Plato, and other ancient Greek writers. They were influential and inspired authors including William Blake, Percy Shelley, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, William Wordsworth, W.B. Yeats, Mary Woolstonecraft, and Helena Blavatsky.
