Pygmies and Bushmen of the Kalahari. First edition of Dornan's study of the San and neighbouring peoples of the Kalahari. Dornan, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and Royal Anthropological Institute, had previously published on the Tati Bushmen and their language in the Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute in 1917.The work records hunting, food gathering, family life, religious belief, folklore, language, and rock art, with further chapters on neighbouring groups including the Khoikhoi, Namaqua, Korana, and Griqua. It remains a notable early 20th-century ethnographic account of Kalahari societies, preserving oral, linguistic, and material traditions at a time of increasing colonial disruption.
