1914 and Other Poems. One of 87 copies printed for copyright purposes in America and never published in the US, with "1914 Poems. Stock" stamped on the front wrapper. The anthology was first published in Britain earlier the same year.The volume is divided into four sections, which include the much anthologized "The Soldier" ("If I should die, think only this of me: / That there's some corner of a foreign field / That is for ever England").Shortly after Brooke's death in 1915, a tribute was published anonymously in The Times by Winston Churchill, then First Lord of the Admiralty: "The poet-soldier told with all the simple force of genius the sorrow of youth about to die, and the sure triumphant consolations of a sincere and valiant spirit" (26 April 1915).
