Indian Journals. First edition, paperback issue, inscribed by the author on the title page, "Allen Ginsberg, for Ron Benham, 1977, Naropa, AH". Benham, a fellow poet, was a correspondent of Ginsberg's in the 1970s. Naropa likely refers to the Buddhist school in Colorado, and "AH" to William Blake's poem "Ah! Sun-flower", a favourite of Ginsberg's.In this volume, the beat poet provides recollections of a two year trip to India in search of a heightened spiritual awareness. Ginsberg writes in his blurb, "Indian Journals are notebook writings sketches dream fragments night thoughts afternoon reveries Kodak snapshots Optical & Verbal."A hardcover issue was published simultaneously.
