First American edition, first printing of The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, published by Grove Press in 1967. Translated from the Russian by Mirra Ginsburg. The novel had originally appeared in two issues of the Soviet literary magazine Moskva in late 1966 and early 1967 before this American edition was published. Copyright page states “First Printing.” Library of Congress Catalog Card Number 67-29909. One of Bulgakov’s best-known works, mixing satire, fantasy, religion, politics, and the supernatural in Soviet Moscow. Please see photos for exact condition, including boards, binding, pages, markings, and dust jacket if present: no foxing on the outer pages, no underlining, dog-ears, etc. Please look closely as personal preference might find the dust jacket to their liking: the added tape is on the outside of the dustjacket and not on the actual DJ of the book.
