Abraham Lincoln, 1809-1858. The "Manuscript Edition", number 152 of 1,000 sets, each set containing a leaf of the original working manuscript.The author served as Republican senator for Indiana from 1899-1911, and was a prominent voice in national political debate during those years. "Because of his indefatigable efforts to strip away the myths and legends that had accumulated around Lincoln, the work is regarded as the first Lincoln biography to meet modern scholarly standards" (ANB). The biography was unfinished at Beveridge's death, and the historian Worthington S. Ford undertook the responsibility for seeing the manuscript through publication.
