Bryant assisted Liddell Hart when, in 1965, the latter was appointed visiting distinguished professor at the University of California, Davis, where Bryant studied for an MA in Modern European History. He has written extensively on the British military experience in 18th-century India, publishing in 2013 The Emergence of British Power in India, 1600-1784: A Grand Strategic Interpretation.
