Isherwood immersed himself in the study of the Vedanta Scriptures during the Second World War, and was an active member of the Society for the following 35 years, occasionally lecturing at the Hollywood and Santa Barbara temples, and following the guidance of the Hindu priest, Swami Prabhavananda, for over 30 years.
