You Only Live Once. First edition of the scarcest biography of Ian Fleming, written by Ivar Bryce, Fleming's close friend and a fellow former intelligence officer. The work was withdrawn after publication for libel, following a suit by the film producer Kevin McClory, protesting Bryce's claim that McClory bribed Jack Whittingham to give evidence for him during the litigation case for the copyright of Thunderball.The High Court found in McClory's favour, and the publishers incurred substantial libel damages. A thoroughly revised version, with all offending passages removed, appeared in 1984.
