McElligot's Pool by Dr. Seuss Random House, New York Dr. Seuss's fourth book and a 1948 Caldecott Honor title. Marco - the same boy from And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street - drops a line into a small pond and imagines the water opening all the way out to the sea, filling with fish that get stranger and grander with every page. Oversized quarto in illustrated boards. Full-color illustration throughout in the matte offset printing used on the early Random House Seuss titles, with the pictorial pool endpapers front and back. The copyright page carries the original 1947 Random House copyright notice with the Random House printer's code at the foot of the page reading 20 266. DISCONTINUED TITLE In March 2021 Dr. Seuss Enterprises ceased publication of six Dr. Seuss titles, McElligot's Pool among them. The book has not been reprinted since. All copies now in circulation are from printings issued before that date, which makes every surviving copy part of a closed supply. Please see all photos, which show the actual copy offered.
