Bradford (retaining price); pp. [x], 271, nine plates after photographs, wrapper with a few marginal flaws and light spotting, occasional light spotting to text due to wartime paper, otherwise very good. Uncommon first edition, first impression , of this partly autobiographical book of "delightful rambles widely separated in space and time through his favourite island" (i.e. Ireland; inside front flap). Praeger was an Irish naturalist, mountaineer and librarian of the National Library. After World War Two he was the driving force behind the foundation of An Taisce, the National Trust for Ireland, the main nature preservation organization in the republic. SKU: 2125025
