Elementary Theory of Variants. First edition of these lecture notes, prepared by the man himself and recording a year's worth of work. This copy was owned by Alfred L. Foster (1904-1994), professor of mathematics at Berkeley, with his signature on the title page. Foster's doctorate had been supervised by Alonzo Church, later one of Weyl's colleagues at the IAS. In 1913, Hermann Weyl (1885-1931) had worked alongside Einstein at the ETH Zurich, and in 1933 they were among the co-founders of the IAS.
