Ten menus from voyages of the passenger ships MS Brasil Maru and SS Kashima Maru. An attractive collection, exhibiting the continuation of relatively comfortable commercial sea travel in the early years of the Second World War, before the Japanese government requisitioned large numbers of O.S.K. and N.Y.K. vessels for military use.The menus supplement a predominantly Western style of cuisine with occasional Japanese titbits. Passengers on the Brasil Maru were treated to musical performances while they dined.
