First edition, number 148 of 485 copies of the author's only play published during his lifetime, presentation copy, inscribed by one of the printers on the colophon in blue ink to Herman Cohen (1905-1997) of the Chiswick bookshop in New York, "For Herman. Printed by Roland A. Wood and by me at the Harbor Press, John S. Fass".The recipient of this copy played an important role in Frost bibliography. In 1943 Cohen bought the remaining sheets of Frost's 1913 publication A Boy's Will and arranged for Frost to sign and number the remaining copies.Provenance: the collection of Steve Forbes, chairman of Forbes Magazine, and presidential candidate in the 1996 and 2000 US elections.
