Principes philosophiques, politiques & moraux. First edition of the Swiss soldier and diplomat's exceptionally wide-ranging collection of 70 philosophical essays, examining aspects of human psychology, social virtues, civil society, and natural religion.Francois-Rodolphe Weiss (1751-1818) was a strong supporter of the French Revolution, and in 1792 served as the Swiss envoy to the First Republic. In this respect, the present work's section on "la société civile", reflecting on "la liberté", "luxe", et "le citoyen", are particularly interesting.
