First edition

1947 An Album of American Battle Art 1755-1918 by Donald H. Mugridge and Helen F. Conover for The Library of Congress. This vintage first edition hardcover book is a rare and highly collectible historical reference detailing early American military actions through curated illustrations and plates. The navy blue cloth boards feature a gilded Library of Congress seal on the front cover and a red title block on the spine. Inside, the pages are filled with detailed graphic indices and historical plate reproductions spanning from the French and Indian War to the First World War. The exterior shows light shelf wear with some rubbing to the edges, corner bumping, and minor scuffing on the front and back cloth covers. The spine exhibits some fading and minor wear to the top and bottom edges. The text block shows typical light age-toning and superficial shelf dust & marks along the edges. The internal pages are generally clean, though a previous owner name stamp is present on the front endpaper, and a small color print has been neatly tipped onto one of the introductory blank pages. The binding remains intact. Disclaimer: Books are gently cleaned before shipping. Depending on age and previous storage, minor superficial shelf dust or light age residue may remain. Please review photos for exact condition. Sold as-is.
