This exceptional copy features a wonderfully witty and scarce presentation inscription handwritten in blue ballpoint ink by the translator, pioneering depth psychologist Dr. Ira Progoff, on the front free endpaper. The inscription reads: “for Mary Schmidt on behalf of The original author — Ira Progoff" Because the true identity of the 14th-century monk who wrote this landmark work of Christian mysticism remains completely anonymous, Dr. Progoff playfully signed the book "on behalf of the original author." This charming, thematic dedication makes this a premier association copy for collectors of spiritual history, Western esotericism, and Jungian psychology. Binding & Cloth: NEAR FINE. The grey cloth boards are exceptionally clean, bright, and square. The corners are sharp, and the blue stamped lettering on the spine remains completely vibrant with zero fading.
