I. ročník náčrtník měřický ornament ("First-Year Surveyor's Sketchbook: Ornament"). This sketchbook provides a window into the little-known State Teaching Institute for Women in Brno. Completed as part of a first-year student's studies, illustrated is a wide range of ornamentation influenced by Czech cubism and folk art, with a large focus on textiles. Additionally, there is a timed exam piece. Among the illustrations are weaving techniques and processes, wall and carpet decorations (including a prayer rug), columns, braids, lace and handkerchief designs, and national ornaments. Also, there are three loosely inserted stitch cards, with ship and railway carriage designs, as well as geometric patterns.Ornamentation was classified by the curriculum in five ways: by time period, content (metric, naturalistic, or invented i.e. abstract), location (on a surface or in space e.g. columns, benches, consoles, cornices etc.), according to function or activity, and by material. Most of the illustrations are stamped with "JR", the initials of professor Josef Ružíčka, who led the design department of the institute from 1922-1933. Some illustrations also feature the institute's stamp and, towards the front of the book, is the stamp of the "Union of Czechoslovak Draughtsmen - Moravian-Silesian Group".
