Lingdao women shiye de hexin liliang shi Zhongguo Gongchandang. (The Force at the Core Leading our Cause Forward is the Chinese Communist Party.) A striking example of a Cultural Revolution poster showing Mao as the solar centre of the Chinese revolution. The quotation, stressing the leading role of the Communist Party and Marxism-Leninism, opened the first chapter of every Chinese edition and foreign translation of the "Little Red Book".In the early 1970s, as the number of overseas visitors to China increased, they could purchase selected posters in special tourist-facing stores in Beijing, Shanghai, and other major cities. This poster, unattributed to any particular publisher, was likely printed toward the end of the Cultural Revolution for sale in one of these dedicated stores.
