Part Two, "The War", describes the Japanese invasion of China in 1937 through the eyes of foreign clergy and journalists caught in the warzones.Of particular value is the 21-page "War Diary of a China Priest", vividly recounting the author's experiences of the Japanese advance and Shanghai's refugee crisis between 15 August 1937 and Easter Sunday 1938.This work was printed by an orphan press established by the Jesuits in Shanghai's Xujiahui district in 1934.
