Collection of books on Israel and Palestine from the library of Jimmy Carter. A collection of books from President Carter's library concerning one of the central issues of his presidency and later work: the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. All have his stamps, "From the Library of Jimmy Carter", applied posthumously to an opening page. Two have his annotations.As president, Carter played a pivotal role in Middle East diplomacy. He combined unwavering support for Israel's survival and security with pressure for territorial compromise and recognition of Palestinian rights. His landmark 1978 Camp David Accords laid the groundwork for the first peace treaty between Israel and an Arab nation, establishing the "land for peace" framework and opening dialogue on Palestinian autonomy. Following his presidency, Carter remained actively involved in the Middle East peace process and published several books on the subject.The books were included in the posthumous sale of Carter's library at Christie's, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Carter Family Foundation; the library stamps were added ahead of the sale.
