Arms and the Covenant. First edition of this important collection of Churchill's speeches on foreign policy, delivered from 1928 to 1938 during his "wilderness years". The speeches warned of German rearmament and the threat posed by Hitler and Mussolini, while condemning the policy of appeasement. Politically unwelcome and largely unheeded, his warnings soon appeared remarkably prescient.
