The Truth About Reparations and War-Debts. First US edition. Although one of the leading architects of the Treaty of Versailles, Lloyd George became a severe critic of the settlement, arguing that reparations and war debts destabilized the international economy and threatened another war.In the book, "he called, in effect, for reparations to be abandoned altogether. It would not, he argued, be a breach of the peace treaty. On the contrary, such a policy would embody its proper intentions" (ODNB). The British edition was published one month earlier.
