The Adventures of a Pincushion: designed chiefly for the use of young ladies. An early 19th-century edition of this charming children's novel of circulation, first published in 1780, recounting the travels of a pincushion as it passes from person to person in Georgian London. This tale by Mary Ann Kilner (1753-1831) was highly influential on the best-known book by her sister in law Dorothy (1755-1836), the Life and Perambulation of a Mouse (c.1790): both women were innovative in giving the narrator's voice to animals and inanimate objects.
