London: Richard Bentley, 1838. First edition, mixed state (the author of volume 1 is listed as Charles Dickens, volumes 2 and 3 list the author as "Boz"). Leather Bound. Good. George Cruikshank. 331; 307; 315pp. Small octavo [19.5 cm] 3/4 leather with marbled paper over boards. Marbled text block edges. With the fireside plate (titled Rose Maylie and Oliver). Bindings worn. Spines prominently faded and rubbed. Boards also rubbed. Two volumes without spine labels. Foxing to the plates, and very occasionally very light foxing to the text. Small loss from top fore-edge corner of pp. 281/82 (volume 3). *Volume 1 with shortened title - "Oliver Twist." "Oliver's reception by Fagin and the boys" found at p. 265 in volume 1, rather than as the frontispiece. No publisher's advertisements or list of illustrations. No half title in volume 2. No dates or imprints on illustrated pages. First internal flaw listed for Volume II cannot be verified (page not present). "Pilaster" twice on p. 164 (volume 3).
