Item Description This rare Australian comic book issue of Brenda No. 18 makes a fantastic addition to any vintage comic collection. Published in April 1953 by Atlas Publications in Sydney and part of the highly collectible World Famous Series, this vintage piece features the dynamic adventures of ace news hound Brenda and her trusted photographer companion, Buddy Wells. The striking, action-packed color cover and the beautiful interior story artwork were illustrated by the prominent Australian comic artist Yaroslav Horak. While the scriptwriter remains uncredited as was typical for local publishers during this era, the story captures the classic hardboiled detective spirit and heavily draws inspiration from the character concepts originally created by pioneering American cartoonist Dale Messick. Inside, the issue delivers full black-and-white comic strip adventures across two complete, action-filled stories. The first feature presents a wrestling-themed mystery showcasing Brenda and Buddy investigating the matched pairing of "Tornado Tony" and the crooked gambler Bruno Shultz, mixed with ringside drama alongside Red Mountain Procopotkin. The second story follows the duo on a classic Hollywood assignment involving a search for the star Hunk Montgomery, complete with classic studio backlot visuals and iconic showbiz tropes
