Green Lantern #21, #22 & #23 DC Comics, 1963 Fantastic consecutive three-issue Silver Age Green Lantern run featuring Hal Jordan, with two important first appearances and classic Gil Kane artwork throughout. The highlight of the set is Green Lantern #21, featuring the first appearance and origin of Doctor Polaris. Neal Emerson's transformation into the magnetism-controlling villain began here, establishing another important member of Green Lantern's growing Silver Age rogues gallery. Green Lantern #22 continues the run with "Master of the Power Ring!", featuring the return of Hector Hammond and another attempt to turn Green Lantern's own power against him. The issue also contains "Dual Masquerade of the Jordan Brothers", bringing Hal Jordan's family into the story. Green Lantern #23 is another key issue, featuring the first appearance and origin of Abel Tarrant, the original Tattooed Man. Tarrant's ability to transform his tattoos into physical objects gave Green Lantern one of his more distinctive early villains. Tattooed Man would return throughout DC history and become associated with several major villain teams. The second story in #23, "The Green Lantern Disasters!", also expands the wider mythology of the Green Lantern Corps as Hal is sent by the Guardians to assist fellow Green Lantern Xax. A great early run from one of DC's defining Silver Age titles. Key features: • Green Lantern #21, June 1963 • First appearance and origin of Doctor Polaris • Green Lantern #22, July
