Metamorphosis of 741. First edition, first impression. One of a limited edition of 440 numbered copies. Inscribed by the author on the limitation leaf "With love for Alan - who must never change - DJ & JM v. 77". Also with a pencilled correction on the second page of text. Alan Ansen (1922-2006) was a central figure in the loose collection of writers known as the Beats. He was close friends with Burroughs, Ginsberg, and Kerouac, and was the inspiration for several of Kerouac's characters, including "Rollo Greb" in On the Road, and for "A.J." in Burroughs's Naked Lunch.
