Large collection of 73 original vintage issues of The Hornet, covering issue numbers #401 through #499. A substantial near-run of these classic British boys’ comics, with a particularly strong sequence through the later 400s. Fantastic mixture of football and other sporting covers, adventure, war stories and Captain Hornet. Major highlight: Issue #420 is present with its original “Be a Super Boy” booklet still included. These free inserts are often missing from surviving copies, so having the booklet still with the comic is a particularly nice feature of this collection. Issues included: 401 417–426 428–432 435–438 440–446 449–451 453–457 459–471 473–479 481–488 490–499 73 issues in total. These are original comics from over 50 years ago and are being sold as a vintage collection in used, age-related condition. Condition varies across the lot. Many remain very presentable for their age, while others show the sort of wear expected from comics of this period, including edge and spine wear, creasing, small tears, age toning and occasional heavier wear/damage. A small number have more substantial tears or damage, and examples of the poorer-condition copies have been deliberately photographed so buyers can see the range of condition represented. A number of the comics have handwritten “65 weeks” / “65” notation near the top of the covers. This appears across numerous issues and should be visible in the photographs.
