THE HORNET – NEAR-COMPLETE 100-ISSUE RUN #500–599 A superb opportunity to pick up a substantial, near-complete consecutive run of vintage D.C. Thomson The Hornet comics, covering issues #500 through #599. 92 of the 100 issues are included, with only 8 issues missing: #502, #504, #516, #517, #520, #528, #552 and #578. The collection dates from the early/mid-1970s and includes a fantastic long sequence of Captain Hornet covers, alongside some particularly collectible Gallery of Sport issues featuring major sporting names including Johan Cruyff, Kevin Keegan, Franz Beckenbauer, Mike Channon and John Conteh, plus other standout covers within the run. Condition is remarkably consistent for comics of this age. They are generally flat, bright and well-preserved, with comparatively little tearing, fraying or heavy spine damage. Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the condition description. Important condition note: the issues have old newsagent-style handwritten pencil/pen markings around the upper margin, and some have other small markings. These have deliberately been left untouched rather than attempting to erase or clean them. There is also occasional age-related discolouration, edge wear, small marks and other normal signs of handling/storage expected from 50+ year-old newsprint.
