Original Artwork: The Mer-Baby. An exquisite watercolour by the illustrator Charles Robinson (1870-1937) depicting a mer-baby, clutching a Japanese doll, and swimming with fish. We have been unable to trace publication, and it is likely to have been published within an illustrated periodical around the 1920s."His style was very decorative, flowing and imaginative scenes were surrounded by elaborate borders and in the faces and forms of his children he recaptured something of the innocence of childhood... His drawings were partly inspired by the prints of Durer, partly by the Pre-Raphaelites, their space often suggestive of Japanese prints.
