Tibbets' first-person account of his military career and his role in organizing and commanding the 509th Composite Group, which carried out the atomic bombing mission against Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. This copy is personally signed by Paul W. Tibbets Jr. (1915-2007), pilot of the B-29 Enola Gay and commander of the 509th Composite Group. It is also signed by Enola Gay crew members Theodore "Dutch" Van Kirk, the navigator, and Thomas W. Ferebee, the bombardier. Together, the three signatures represent the pilot, navigator, and bombardier of the aircraft on its historic World War II mission.
