McCarthy (Tom) C, pre-publication proof printed for the Booker Prize committee, original wrappers, numbered at spine head and upper cover, minor finger-soiling and marginal toning, small nick to spine foot, 2010; and another of the same, signed, 8vo (2) *** Rare pre-publication proof of McCarthy's third novel which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2010. We have traced no other example for sale. One of approx. 7 copies printed especially for the Booker Prize judges. *** Dotti Irving is the founder of the communications agency Colman Getty which handled the Booker Prize from 1993 to 2022. During her 30 years of working on the prize, Irving got to know many of the writers involved and accumulated a library of winning books and shortlisted titles, many of which were signed by the authors. Colman Getty handled the submissions process, ensuring publishers’ books reached the judges. With around 150 titles and seven copies of each arriving annually, they devised a simple numbering system to track the books using small, numbered stickers.
