Small quarto (225 x 170 mm), stapled pictorial self-wrappers (light horizontal fold; upper wrapper with corner crease; lower wrapper with short corner tear); pp. 16, with numerous b/w photographic illustrations, map; very clean throughout; loosely enclosed is the official application form for the tour, plus an order form for additional prospectuses. A total of 34 girls aged 16-19 took part in this five-month Young Australia League tour which departed from Melbourne in the Taiping and took in Thursday Island, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Canton, Shanghai and Japan. The girls were chaperoned by Mrs. A. Lodewyckx (Anna Sophia Hansen), wife of the famous University of Melbourne philologist and polyglot Augustin Lodewyckx. No other example traced; appears completely unrecorded.
