Scarce softcover with card covers. 1880 First Edition as such of the 1589 original. Robert Greene (1558–1592) was a popular English author in his day. An Elizabethan dramatist & pamphleteer known for his negative critiques of his colleagues, he is said to have been born in Norwich, attended Cambridge & received a B.A. in 1580, an M.A. in 1583 before moving to London. There he became the first professional author in England. He was prolific, publishing romances, plays & an autobiography. -wiki Fair condition with soiling to covers, half title and title pages, some light foxing, there is an affixed armorial plate of sorts attached to half title with owner's index number of 3208 typed on it, a few light pencil marks as shown, text otherwise clean and sound, card covers with moderate wear, front spine edge cracked, front cover nearly detached, could be mended fairly inexpensively.
